Bob, about JLA: THE OBSIDIAN AGE: Will the Prelude issues featuring Manitou Raven be included in the TPB? I hope so, since it makes the story more understandable.

Wow! That sounds like a great idea, Mr. Bob Greenberger.

Alexander Hamilton (our 1st Sectratary of the Treasury) had set aside some funds for the expenses of some visiting foreign dignitaries. Among these expenses where room and board for the concubines of the vistors. When Thomas Jefferson asked what this was about Hamilton repilied "necessary expenses for foreign intercourse".

Our Founding Fathers ROCKED!

Sounds more like a line Burr would have come up with.
I dearly love the memory of Tom Jefferson, but somehow I suspect he may have missed the humor (not that he was either an innocent or a prude, just very earnest....) [/B][/QUOTE]

Yeah, and Hamilton and Jefferson didn't really get along very well either. It interesting to see just how human these great men were.

Jefferson was a Libertarian (what historians describe as Classical Liberals -- in opposition to Modern Liberalism). Hamilton was a Consertive with Mercantilist bent. But they were all more devoted to Constitutional government than the politicians of today.

They sure did.

But then nearly all American statesmen before the last 20 years had a better record in that respect, as far as I can see.

Still, I've always thought that one of the major reasons for this country's success was that it had an extraordinary first couple of generations of politicians to get us up and running.

In that you are correct. We are probably the luckiest nation in the history of the world. All Rome had going for it was a couple of orphans raised by wolves!

All this patriotic dialog has me wishing for an ... Uncle Sam Archive!!!

Yeah, but 5 points below understandable isn't much better than 6 points below understandable.

I'd second the Tomahawk question. The strip was SUCH a staple for DC through three decades ( mid-40's, '50's and 60's with a smidge of the '70's thrown in ) that I wonder if it ever comes up in planning and what its chances might be?

Personally I always liked the stories I saw but I don't have ANY Golden Age-era stories.

So I'd sure be first to line to buy one.

Flashback 200 years and...Slavery IS Constitutional! And I don't think Hamilton owned any slaves. I believe he was from New York (by way of Jamica).

Bob,

About the Perez JLA stories. If a hard cover edition is a no go, can you please at least consider a better quality paper? A lot of these issues are availible in back issuebins. The problem is the paper quality is so bad a lot of color and detail can't be made out. Please at least up the quality of these Perez collections. I don't buy a lot of trade paper backs simply because of the cheap print. I have a number of these old issues but the paper just dosn't hold up. Thanks Kirk.

The Constitution was designed so that Amendments could be added to restrict the evil powers of government. Slavery was subsequently abolished, and women acquired their Rights. So it came to pass, that our Constitutional Republic recognized that all men and women were equally endowed with certain unalienable Rights, and that the only legitimate function function of government is to secure our Rights.

Actually, household and small-farm slavery was fairly common in New York at that time--just not the industrial plantation variety. Whether Hamilton owned slaves or not (I don't think he did, and I'm too lazy to check right now), he surely was often a guest in households that did.
Jefferson made repeated efforts to abolish slavery both in Virginia, his home State, and at the Federal level. No dice.
It's true that he sometimes bought and sold human beings, and also that he used their labor. Looking at his conduct in the context of the practices and values of the time, I don't think he can be criticized too harshly. He wasn't heroic on the subject, but he did what he considered to be his best.
He didn't emancipate his slaves in his will, as Washington did, but then Jefferson died so deeply in debt that such a provision in a will would have been overridden in order to satisfy his creditors anyway, which he surely knew.

I think the Robin/Aqualad/Kid Flash issue SHOULD be included (since, while it would ALSO most likely lead off a Teen Titans Archive, it doesn't seem like a Silver Age Teen Titans Archive is coming anytime soon...)

Hmm. Don't know why, but I feel that a SA Teen Titans archive is imminent. For that matter, I feel it is a lock that we will see it before we see an archive of of The Brave and The Bold Team-Ups. So, my preference would be for the Robin/Kid Flash/Aqualad issue to not appear in a B&B archive.

Hello Bob, here is a non archive-related question for you. Top ten vol.2 will be released in TPB after having been in HC. For all the ABC fans over there, could you do the same with Tom strong vol.2 ?

Bob,

With only one more Alan Moore volume of Swamp Thing to be reprinted and Rick Veitch having had a recent success with the new Aquaman, might we see any of his Swamp Thing work reprinted (and maybe even his unprinted Swamp Thing 88)?

Hi Bob,

Two quick questions:

1 - What are the chances of any more Doom Patrol archives or trade paperbacks? Of any of the various series or runs.

2 - What are the chances of a Leading Comics/Seven Soldiers of Victory Archive or trade?

Thanks,

--Rich

Hi Bob,

Quick questions about possible material for faux annuals/100 pagers.

1. Was Green Lantern #40 (featuring the origin of the Guardians, guest starring Alan Scott) considered for reprinting in a faux annual or Millenium edition? This issue represents a big price spike for back issue collectors ($490 in NM, versus $105 for the preceding issue and $70 for the following issue.) If there were another JSA 100 pager, I would love to see this included.

2. There were two Showcase issues featuring the Dr. Fate and Hourman team. The first guests Solomon Grundy and the GA Green Lantern, and is also a price spike in the back issue listings. The second features the Psycho Pirate and has never been reprinted in the USA. Could these be considered for reprinting? Perhaps in a Dr. Fate 100 pager?

3. Will we see the second collection of JLA/JSA Crises on Multiple Earths this year?

Thanks!

Well as long as we're handing out our wish lists, Bob are we ever going to see another trade of Brubaker's Catwoman? I don't know when Dark End of the Street was released, so I don't mean to sound impatient, but the title seems far enough along to warrant another trade. Thanks for reading 17 pages of fanboy begging Bob.

I believe the Psycho-Pirate story WAS reprinted because I recall it. That could just be a flashback lurking in the caverns of my mind.

I FEEL like I've read it.

The Solomon Grundy fight is familiar but my mind is playing tricks on me regularly. Perhaps in one of the 100-page Brave & the Bold Super Specs?? Maybe the Batman & Atom one or thereabouts?

I can almost see the cover -- with the Atom very small in one large panel dominated by someone's [Batman's??] head. Maybe Viking Prince too?

My brother --God rest him -- wasn't a bad sort but I still REALLY wish he hadn't sold all those old comics of mine while I was away at college!!

Bob answered this a few pages back. Another CATWOMAN trade is already on the 2003 schedule.

Yay!
