James - your change has been accepted!

DaBubba - winner gets to select one Archive to be released next year!

NOT!

You'll have to be satisfied with being crowned resident genius of the Archive board, a very prestigious title if I do say so myself!

Another alternate link for issue 69, as that site now seems to be on the blink:

Sounds like fun...My first instinct says:

#63
#64
#66
#70

I love #65 but think it will be less effective shrunk down on the back cover.

My choices:

62, 63, 64, 69.

I picked 62 because it was used as the Table of Contents page in a 100 page issue, right? I figure, if the cover is good for a table of contents page, it's certainly good enough for the back four!

How could you NOT include the debut of Mindgrabber Kid on the back!!! His appearance is second only to Superman's! Don't you remember the marketing frenzy he set off? The likes of it were not seen again until Ghostbusters, Batman, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He was on lunchboxes, tee-shirts, toys, and of course, "Mindgrabber Kid’s Mind-Boosting Vitamins" (which they've now linked to Alzheimer’s).

Then there was his controversial guest appearance on Mayberry R.F.D where he got into that fistfight with George Lindsey, followed by his much publicized marriage to Quality’s Torchy Todd which sealed the deal for the majority of Quality characters to come work for DC. If you’ll recall, it all came crashing down for MGK however, when the tabloids got wind of his tawdry affair with Little Lulu, and his obsession with grabbing more than just little boys’ minds.

None of the latter allegations were ever proven in court, and MGB dropped from the comics scene, and the public spotlight altogether. He went on a 12 year drinking binge, and gained 200 pounds. He then tried brief stints as a phone psychic, a talk show host, and even starred in infomercials selling exercise equipment. He is now trying to get his life back in order and runs a center for wayward young superheroes with Matter-Eater Lad

Heading down the home stretch, these 4 are in the lead:

64 (smashing shot of Red Tornado): 22
69 (GA gets the thumbs down): 17
61 (Split-faced heroes/villains): 16
70 (The Creeper pulls some strings): 14

67 & 68 getting little attention, garnering a mere vote apiece.

Will we finally see a winner tomorrow?

I sort of like 68 for its simplicity.

I know we're supposed to be guessing what DC will do, but I hope they do:

64, Red Tornado

65, T.O. Morrow

67, the entire JLA of that era

68, a neat angle and simple cover

Well, its 61, 63, 66 & 69, in case anyone wants to go through and check for winners.

OK, I'm not THAT lazy. "Lightning + Chemicals" called it right.

Well, let me start off by saying how humbled I am by this honor.

It is really satisfaction enough to be able to compete on the same playing field with all of you. You are all winners in my book. It is indeed a shame that we can't carve up this prize in two dozen equal parts and distribute it to each of you.

...err ...what is it EXACTLY that I have won???

Congratulations to Lightning + Chemicals for a job well done!

I think most of us were thrown off by the non-selection of 64, seemingly the most dynamic cover of the bunch. And who'd have thought neither of the JLA/JSA stories would be featured. I'd have to check my volumes at home, but I'm almost certain that's a first.

I felt that way too - one of the JLA/JSA covers made a lot of sense to hilight the team up. Ditto for my thinking of #70 with the Creeper (plus 70 bookends as the last book in the volume). Ah well. Always fun to keep us guessing.

Hey I'm overjoyed with the cover selections!

I picked 3 out of 4--and the one that I got wrong was 64 which I picked because it seemed so obvious. The other 3 (63, 66, 69) were all ones I was really pulling for, so having no 64 was quite all right with me.

But it looks like they played around with the colour shadings on the cover of 61.
