This is quite tough. Hopefully it would never come to this. If there was a fire and I had time to grab only one archive to take, it would be SA Flash #1. Almost went for several others with SA Atom #1 and SA GL #1 running close behind. When we get to post WWII Spirit, that is the best series(no SA Superman yet). Right now it would be Thunder Agents. --Or should it be SA GL? Obviously I am not equal to this task of decisioning... Of course, if there was a Detective Chimp archives, the child in me says that would be the answer to both questions. Hmmm, next time I guess I should just remain silent on such inqiries. IP: Logged |

quote: You beat me to the punch with the Detective Chimp Archives, although I'd certainly settle for Rex The Wonder Dog! Well I can dream! Anyway for the series I'd grab The Spirit. Not a hard choice at all. For the single volume... Hmmm! Blackhawk, GA Starman, Plastic Man, and SA Hawkman were all under consideration, but I'd probably grab the Black Canary Archives. Don't ask me why, but that is probably the book I go back to the most. IP: Logged |

Mine would have to be ALL-STAR ! I love those things they really reflect on 1940's American culture/history. Im 28 & i am such a History nut,i imagine what it would be like for my Grandpa to sit there as a kid reading one of these comics. Imagining this group of Heroes taking on Gangsters,Nazi's & whatnot. I also love how we get samples of so many cool Golden Age Heroes in one book that we wouldnt see elsewhere. ------------------ IP: Logged |

THE SPIRIT, NATCH! ------------------ If only he could have used his evil for good! Don't you call my friend a sh*thead! He may have a steel plate in his head, but he's no sh*thead! IP: Logged |

quote: I don't know. I just like it--its quirky enough to be nostalgic, entertaining enough to be fun, and it has Golden Ager's. I just love the stories in this volume. Plus, this was one I missed at the comic shop, so I had it track it down on eBay. Kind of a thrill of the hunt thing. I like all of the All-Stars but I contend the Spirit contained much better stories. Hope this gives a decent answer. Best to you, OLD DUDE! IP: Logged |
