I want it so badly I will buy it at a local shop for a higher price than my online dealer charges: Challengers 1 I want these sufficiently that I will pre-order from my online dealer: T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents Archives Volume 2 I would like to try eventually, but not until I exhaust my backlog of archives: Tor, all volumes Probably never: IP: Logged |

Some of this depends on my financial status (which is somewhat unstable for the time being). Nonetheless, this my Archive plan: I will buy, without a moment's hesitation:
I will probably buy, maybe not right away but when I find the right price (whatever that means):
I will not buy, because it interests me no longer:
Finally, I've said it before, I'll say it again -- I will never, ever buy anything from Jack Kirby's Fourth World. Ever. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I buy all the Archives that are official DCU. I have been following Thunder Agents and Spirit as well. I probably won't be getting the Elfquest Archives (I already have the reprints done a few years back). ------------------ IP: Logged |

There's nothing on the actual schedule that is a must-have to me. All my desires are in the theoretical future: All the remaining All-Stars ...and finally, the two volumes I want more than any others: Adam Strange, and World's Finest Vol. 3 If I've opened this thread into another archives wish-list, I apologize. quote: Well, no matter how much I want an Archive, I can wait a week for it if it saves me $20. I have found that Sanctuary Comics' prices of $30 for an Archive with $5 for shipping just too good to pass up. Anyway, Archives that I am sure that I will buy this year: JLA #8 I'm really on the fence about Silver Age Teen Titans #1, but I will probably buy it eventually. And, even though I'm in the minority, I'm not interested in much Golden Age stuff other than Batman. So, no to Superman #6.

I will definitely buy: Spirit Archives when Eisner's work resumes, catch up on 4-10 later Thunder Agents archives Challengers Archives Jimmy Olsen by Kirby There are no archives I won't buy, but obviously it will depend, as always, on the money available. The above archives will come first, however. ------------------ IP: Logged |

Buying: - Legion 12 - Justice League 8 - THUNDER Agents 2 and 3 - Atom - Teen Titans - All Star 9 With Atom and Teen Titans being camp-out-Wednesday morning territory. I won't be buying Elfquest is way off my radar. Interesting, but just not a priority with the given funds. - David IP: Logged |

Speaking of Elfquest, I'll be interested in seeing how the sales of the Archive editions goes. I've always wondered how much of a cult following Wendi and Richard have. I've only read the first ten or so issues of the original run of Elfquest, enjoyed them, but never really followed through. I'll buy the first archives edition as a sampler, then decide if I'll continue. There's no doubt that Elfquest is very well written and produced, it's just a question of the subject matter. ------------------ IP: Logged |

I also buy from Santuary Comics, and I usually have them in less than a week after they come out. Although I already have the floppies, I will still get T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents vol.2. IP: Logged |

I'll buy them all, probably the week they come out in all cases, but the ones I'm most enthusiastic about are/were: Aquaman 1 and the least enthusiastic: Justice League and Legion fall in the middle. If we get World's Finest 3, Plastic Man 5, and/or GA Hawkman 1, they all go in the "most enthusiastic" section. GA Superboy 1 or Supergirl 2 would go in the "least enthusiastic". IP: Logged |

Let's see... Rightaway buy archives: Anything Batman Everything else is wait and see. If I can find some on sale or if I just feel the need to fill out my archive collection I might buy 'em, but only those listed above are a priority. (Haven't bought Spectre, Aquaman, Thunder Agents, Enemy Ace, Sgt Rock, Mad, New Teen Titans,...) IP: Logged |

So far there is nothing I won't buy, but some things I'll buy sooner than others. I'll be buying Challengers, Dark Knight, Teen Titans, Atom, THUNDER Agents, Tor and Spirit as soon as they show up at the comic shop. The other stuff I'll get to eventually. My next JLA book will be Volume 5, so I might get to the forthcoming Volume 8 before the year is over. Or maybe not. Hard to say. I don't know about Elfquest (but then, I didn't know about Tor or THUNDER Agents, either). I'll take a look at Elfquest when it comes out, and if I like it, I'll continue. If it doesn't grab me, I'll probably pass on any further volumes, at least for a while. Maybe I'd sample a later volume if a well-regarded storyline is covered. If the Masterworks and the expected Gemstone Disney books are well-produced, I'll be slowing down on my back-Archive acquisitions. There's only so much money and so much time. But at least I'll never be wanting for a good read! IP: Logged |

quote: For the most part I agree with you as there is little change from vol 1 to the latest for most archives. Where you could reconsider would be with Batman in Detective which has moved along at such a pace that vol 5 is very different than vol 1 both artwise and story wise. The Spirit is another example of being able to start at a non #1 volume. The Eisner post war material will start in in vol 11 for a couple of parts and full bore in #12. If you skip the earlier volumes you just get to the legendary stuff right away. IP: Logged |

All Star 9, Challengers 1, and Spectre 1 are the must buys for me. I may pick up the others later, with the exception of the Authority and Elfquest collections, which I'll pass on. IP: Logged |

I'll be interested to see what form the Elfquest material takes. I might even want copies, depending on how different they are from the Donning collections. They've certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of it over the years. And to think there was a time when I had 5000 copies of Fantasy Quarterly in my garage.... IP: Logged |

Well since I usually buy only 2-3 Archives a year and the past 2 months pulled that off with the latest Legion and Spectre. I had both of these on my list at my local store. None of the remaining Archives for the year do I have on my list, and while I am interested in some of them there are several that have already been released that I don't have that I want first including more SA Green Lantern, Atom, and Supergirl. I hope to get 1-2 of them cheap ($30 or less) in the near future. As far as ones I will always buy right away that list is Doom Patrol and Legion (though we are far past the point of I already have those issues). When they start SA Superman I will get those right away as well. If they ever do Suicide Squad I will have no second thoughts about getting that. IP: Logged |

I'll be pretty automatic about: SA Flash SA Green Lantern SA Atom Justice League of America All-Star Comics Challengers of the Unknown Doom Patrol Shazam! SA Superman SA Aquaman SA Hawkman Stuff I'll get around to: Stuff I'd get in a heartbeat (if offered):
Stuff we should NEVER see in an Archive: ------------------ IP: Logged |

By my count at this time the Challengers Archive is the most popular 'must have now' followed closely by Thunder Agents and Atom then JLA and All Star. Elfquest leads the no way list with Authority 2 , Batman and Superman 6 not far behind. IP: Logged |

I haven't had time to read all your responses yet, but I'd better give you mine before I forget. I get my comics through the mail and get a discount, so if I really want something, I preorder it (and thus get it "the day it shows up"). I want and will preorder every DCU Archive with the possible exception of New Teen Titans 2. If I decide to get NTT2, and if they keep the pace slow, I will probably get all NTT volumes. I'll be shocked if they produce any other DCU Archives in the next 10 years that I don't want. I'm buying every Spirit and T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents. I'll probably get Tor volume 3. I think its over-priced, and I think I already own everything in it, but it would be nice to have a complete set. I can't afford the Adams volume right now. I'm trying to work out a deal with my supplier, but its not looking good right now. I won't be getting Elfquest. Years ago, I heard great things but decided not to get it because 1. I can't afford everything that I want 2. I'm not a big fan of the fantasy genre. Nothing's changed, and I'm afraid that I'll get addicted and want even more. I'm sure that I would like this, but I have to draw the line somewhere. I won't be getting archive-like products that reprint modern material. This position won't change until the majority of comics that I want to buy are offered in an archive-like format. IP: Logged |
