stoter1 Member	posted March 12, 2003 05:08 PM I used to love coming into the room several times a day, just so I could read Bob's comments, and it felt great knowing that we had someone on the inside who actually cared about what we think. All of a sudden, Bob just stopped posting. Why?? IP: Logged

BlueTracer Member	posted March 12, 2003 05:48 PM The end of Bobs posting coincided with an article from an online column called Lying in the Gutter which it appears may have brought the fact that Bob was posting here to DC's PTB who its speculated mightve put the kibosh on the posting for reasons of their own - they're notably paranoid about story leaks from what i've seen or heard. It then when on to take some of his more off hand/humerous remarks somewhat out of context. There were about 15-20 quotes listed as examples of things that he's posted. IP: Logged

DStepp a little while ago mentioned that he had emailed Bob, and that Bob was simply busy with work and that DC was working on a better way for us to ask Bob questions, and for him to reply. Likely to weed out a lot of duplicate questions, etc. Bob will be back, so we all just need to be patient. IP: Logged

gmp Member	posted March 13, 2003 12:35 AM One way or the other, it appears that posting on the board was causing a problem for Bob at work, either in terms of the time it took, or in creating friction with management. For that matter, it could have been a little of both. I miss Bob's posts as much as anyone, but there has been a positive side to his absence. It seems to have redirected the attention back to connecting with each other, as evidenced by James Friel's very interesting "Golden Age Window" thread. Also, there is only so much Bob could tell us, and I guess we just have to be thankful for what we got, and for the time being, leave it at that. Glenn IP: Logged

Many of the other Forums here have always been that way. Other Topics is usually more Marvel oriented than DCU. As much as I liked Gettysburg, I'm afraid I was disappointed in this film. Having been to the burial site of Stonewall Jackson's left arm, I was really expecting a blockbuster. Oh, and the new Dylan song attached to the film had me excited too. Have you seen it? Unfortunetly I don't have a working sound card so I couldn't have downloaded it off AOL a while back, and I'm not sure if I'm going to buy the soundtrack. I think I'll wait for the Columbia website that's going to come up soon where you can order a customized Dylan CD. I'll order the Gods and Generals song, the Ya Ya Sisterhood song, Return To Me from the Sopranos, and round it out with any live performances they have on there that I may not have. Then I may order some customized CD's that are just never ending loops of Isis, Visions of Johanna, or Hurricane. Chris IP: Logged

And in case you haven't seen the video, it's incredible. Bob and his band wander through a Confederate encampment; Bob's on horseback and obviously looking for something. Finally they come upon what they're looking for: the body of someone- a brother, friend or other relative? They load him up on the back of the horse and wander off in the distance. I found it rather stirring. The ornate and prosaic dialogue that was so stilted in the film works perfectly as the lyric to a song, and its majesty is infectious. A great song, and unique video. I saw it on TNT during the Super Bowl halftime. By the way, that dylan custom mix cd site is up and running. They have the songs you mention you want on there, though I don't think "Cross The Green Mountain" is one of them. dylanfan Member	posted March 14, 2003 04:53 PM "Green Mountain" was recorded right before the Newport Folk Festival last summer. (Remember the one where Bob went onstage in that funky wig? That's the wig he wore in the video.) Yes, George Receli plays on that song and appears in the accompanying video. I wasn't too fond of Receli's drumming on the first tour I saw him (Love and Theft fall tour) but I said the same things on the initial outings by Kemper, and I came to love him. Bob has a system he enforces on his players, pretty much since JJ got the boot, and I am sure George will come around to it. With Bob's music, less is more, especially with the drums. But don't trust me...I'm not a big fan of Garnier. I'm not sure Bob's had a killer bass player since the born again years. He had a run of Rick Danko, Rob Stoner, Jerry Scheff and Tim Drummond. For folks that are familiar with the world of bass players, that's hard to beat. I'm not sure Garnier is in that league. He's a really nice guy, though.
